The Fat Boy

Who?
The Fat Boy is a Chennai Based brand who focuses on bringing Neapolitan style pizzas to the local audience. One of the pioneers in the city to introduce wood fired ovens and Neapolitan style pizzas. The brand is led by a husband-wife duo and fuelled by their passion for food and travel.
What they needed.
They approached Digitingo, for a complete revamp of their packaging. Their old packaging comprised of a pizza box with all their pizzas represented as emoji’s scattered on the box. While other collaterals were plain plastic disposable containers. They wanted to update all their packaging to be brand specific and stand out among their competitors.
Our Solution
I was able to appreciate the effort they had in naming all their pizzas as characters, for example, Hawaiian Boy - pineapple pizza, Italian Boy- Margherita pizza and so on. I helped direct my team to come up with a story outlining the whimsical journey these different boys/characters had to undertake to reach their destination which was The Fat Boy.
For the collaterals, namely the sandwich boxes, tapes, seasoning packets and dessert boxes, I adapted the same illustration styles into generic content to maintain the brand language.
This project required a quick turn around time as the client was running out of their old boxes and wanted to launch the new packing within a week. Not only were my team and I able to deliver, we were also commended by the client and the new packing hit the market - a resounding success gaining traction on social media.
Special Edition Box

What they needed.
Faced with the success of the initial packing revamp, the client approached us with a 2nd revamp which would be a special edition box only to be sold during the anniversary month, celebrating the 5th anniversary of the brand.
Our Solution
We adapted the same illustration style to create a new illustration based on various stats/achievements of the brand that they accumulated over the last 5 years as a popular pizzeria in Chennai.
